Whoa, I managed an EqG Sparity comic and political commentary. Hope no one's too offended. By any of the three, actually.

My Little Pony: Equestria Girls Hasbro

Edit: Fixed some issues that were bothering me with the eyes.

Though I do hate explaining a joke, here's the run down: DOMA is legislation meant to prevent the federal government from striking down gay marriage bans for being unconstitutional, which is overwhelmingly a Republican Party issue. One of their excuses as to why gay people can't get married is because it would magically make marrying dogs or other nonhuman animals okay and people would, for some reason, all go and do just that. Therefore, Rarity's excuse that the repeal of the portion of DOMA that prevents the federal government from recognizing gay marriage made dog!Spike irresistible parodies the Republican argument.

It's not exactly a series, it's just one comic that assumes the reader has some basic knowledge of current events since this stuff was all over the news.

What? You mean MLP as a whole? Then I really don't get what you mean. A fan comic of a series can't do political satire at all?

You haven't seen enough cartoons and comics, then. Political satires are ubiquitous, even if sometimes more subtle.
