Personality/Background:

Marigold is typically quiet and calm, to the point of procrastination in many cases, but she is also confident—almost to the point of arrogance—and very adventurous, often exploring the darkest reaches of the Everfree Forest for both fun and profit. She’s also a perfectionist and an overachiever, traits that often come into conflict with her lazy tendencies, resulting in a pony who is laid back and unproductive 95% of the time and then a blur of frantic energy for the last 5% of the time she has to complete anything tasked to her. Usually, she pulls it off, but often ends up too tired to do much of anything for the next few days.

She works as a therapist and life coach, helping ponies learn to assert themselves, work through relationship issues, or any other life problem that may present itself. She also spends some of her leisure time working out—a lot of weights to tone her naturally powerful frame and long-distance flying for cardio—and sculpting abstract art. She’s very perceptive when she puts her mind to it, but tends to not pay attention to what’s going on around her quite a bit. She can also be prone to fits of jealousy when her loved ones don’t seem to be paying much attention to her.  

Relationships:

She’s pretty spoiled by Turquoise, though he’s also occasionally overprotective, which can cause her some annoyance. They do enjoy flying together, especially since T will follow her far higher than her mother will. Marigold occasionally likes to spar more with her dad, since he’s the only one that can match her strength since she reached her adult size, even though he tends to hold back, much to her chagrin.

Rosemary has a close relationship with her daughter, but growing up Marigold often proved a little too active and adventurous for her, causing her to overly fret about her, even more so than Turquoise, and this caused them to have more than a few fights when she was growing up. Now, however, they often work out together and refer clients to each other, with mother taking care of physical health and daughter taking care of mental and emotional health.

Cupcake is Marigold’s preferred sparring partner, as even though she isn’t quite as physically powerful, her experience and ruthlessness makes her the most dangerous opponent. They also enjoy baking afterward, though Marigold is far more talented at eating.

Marigold was mentored as she earned her therapy degree by “Dr.” Will, who was a famous motivational speaker/pop therapist. However, since then they had a falling out, and have become rivals, each wanting to prove their own techniques superior.

Special:

-       Marigold has been stocky since she was young, and got made fun of for it, but she embraced it and decided if she was going to be big, she would be as big as she could be.

-       When she looks deeply into a pony’s eyes, it sometimes seems as if she can see right into their souls. In fact, sometimes she discerns things about ponies that she shouldn’t be able to know when she does this. Some ponies think she’s some kind of Sherlock Pone, but others swear she’s psychic. Only Marigold knows for sure.

-       Normally, Marigold’s voice is soft and relaxing, but if she begins to go into one of her procrastination panics, her voice sounds not unlike a full grown dragon’s roar.

-       While unable to breathe fire, her breath smells pretty strongly of brimstone. She keeps mints on her at all times.

-       Marigold is a member of the Wonderbolt Reserves, which she got into partly on a dare, but mostly because she can fly through just about anything the Wonderbolt instructors could throw at her.
